What you`ll need to play!

First off, there are various things to think about in Quidditch. You`ve got 3 different balls, a few hoops to score in, some bats, and you`ll be on a broomstick the whole while! This section is designed to help yourself become more familiar with the objects played with in Muggle Quidditch.

There are three different balls in Quidditch: the Quaffle, the Bludgers, and the Golden Snitch.

The Quaffle is the main scoring ball. There is one Quaffle and 3 Chasers on each team who go after the Quaffle. By throwing it through one of the goal hoops, the team is awarded 10 points. The Quaffle can be hit by any part of the Chasers` (or Seekers`) bodies or brooms. Typically, it is carried with one arm around it and it may be knocked out of your hand by an opposing Chaser. Upon catching the Quaffle, a Chaser must stop within 3 steps or he/she forfeits the ball to the nearest opposing Chaser.

In Muggle Quidditch, the Quaffle is a slightly deflated Soccer ball.

The Bludger is the most dangerous of balls in Quidditch. There are 2 Bludgers in a match, and 2 Beaters to hit them away on each team. Bludgers are hit by Beaters toward the opposing team and away from teammates. Upon being struck by a Bludger, you must look straight up immediately with your hands up and spin around as much as you can while counting out-loud to 5. If you have possession of the Quaffle you must drop it right where you are.

In Muggle Quidditch the Bludger is an inflated rubber ball roughly the size of a bocce ball.

The Golden Snitch

The Golden Snitch is probably the most important ball in the game. However, in Muggle Quidditch it`s not exactly a ball. It`s a frisbee! There are two Snitchers who move along the boundaries and throw the Golden Snitch frisbee over the field at random intervals. In addition to the Golden Snitch the Snitchers have a number of "fake" Snitches (black frizbees without a gold mark on them) which they throw to misdirect the Seekers. Once the real Snitch is caught, the game is over and the Seeker`s team is awarded 75 points.

In Muggle Quidditch the Snitch is a frisbee.

There are 4 bats (2 per team) needed in Quidditch, 1 for each Beater. The Beaters will hit the Bludger with the bats and only with the bats.

In Muggle Quidditch the bats are tennis racquets.

The broom is perhaps the most readily available object in Muggle Quidditch. The main function if the broom is to add a great deal of skill in proper maneuverability and holding onto a ball, bat, or frisbee while one hand has the broom. Any broom will do, this is to be simply put between one`s legs while playing.
